Buzzwords - 21st century version

I read this article from this month's issue of Holland Herald (http://hollandherald.nl) about "the next big thing". It discusses the "emerging people trends" in the 21st century. Beyond the clothes we wear, the gadgets we use and the music we listen to, it actually tells us how technology, media and out-of-the-box PR have changed our lifestyle:
  • Way we talk
  • Way we perceive things
  • Way we deal with unexpected situations
  • Way we give importance to "multiple online lives"

In the article, they indicated the latest "buzzwords", which amazed me because these words are pretty much applicable in our daily lives. At the same time, they're pretty funny (I can relate to some of these buzzwords):

  • Adultescense: Grown-ups who refuse to grow up; also "kidults"
  • Brand Sluts: So many brands, so little time
  • Carbon Neutral: Environmental innocence is what we all aspire to now
  • Celebrity Work Syndrome (CWS): Obsessive interest in "celebs", said to afflict one in three; "the new opium of the people".
  • Courage.com: It's easy to be brave online
  • Fauxtography: Digital deception, from Photoshopped stars to political propaganda
  • Flog: A fake blog typing a product, typically made by a PR company - a few major brands have been caught out.
  • Gastroporn: Food fetish media
  • Manboobs: Side effect of globesity
  • Mouse Potato: When you can't get away from your computer
  • Partial Continuous Attention: Side effect of multi-tasking
  • Plutonomyy: An economy that benefits only the rich, or exists purely for wealth creation
  • Poorism: The latest in edgy travel experiences visiting dangerous urban ghettos, etc. (no wonder people go to those uncertain yet exotic cities such as Vanuatu, Kathmandu, Bombay, Harlem... Hehehe!)
  • Social Media: Online sites that connect people, like www.friendster.com, etc. Reflects the reseach finding that today's teenager's (and young adults) would rather talk to their friends online rather than in real life.

So which buzzword do you identify yourself with?? (Alin.. alin.... alin...)
