VC Andrews, with a tinge of Anne Rice, meets Nicholas Sparks

After a looonngg week from corporate toxicity, my friend Jeanne and I celebrated TGIF by having a cozy dinner and retail therapy at Bonifacio High Street. During dinner, she was raving about these series of books on romance and vampires. She narrated these books on a love story between a human girl and a vampire boy. Sounded quite weird at first but when she said that it was so good, she even took a day-off just to finish it, I got intrigued. I said to myself, "whoa it's like Da Vinci Code huh..."

The retail therapy part last Friday... we went to Fully Booked and I immediately asked the sales attendant on those books. They only had "Twilight" and "Eclipse", they ran out of stock for "New Moon". So I bought the two books, had New Moon reserved and instructed them that I'll pick it up in Fully Booked Powerplant.

After my TGIF with Jeanne, I started reading "Twilight". Two words: WOW and KILIG!! I never thought that vampire love stories would make me feel like a high school girl. It was like I was reading Sweet Dreams or Nicholas Sparks because the love between Edward and Bella has been so wonderful, despite their differences. Just to give you guys a taste of the book, I love the part when Edward and Bella went up on some mountain, watched the sunset while it reflected on Edward's pale skin and he started confided his love towards Bella. Ok call me a lovebug (hahaha Lei sounds familiar??) but I just love the exchange of words between the star-crossed lovers. At the same time, there was a tinge of Anne Rice, as the vampire's family background was narrated and a dab of VC Andrews because of the twist and turns of the chase & hunts among vampires (apparently it was shown in the book on the different "tribes" of vampires or something). Oh yeah, Edward.... ang gwapo!! I truly affirm Stephenie Meyer for illustrating Edward Cullen a pale yet god-looking and hunky vampire. Aaaaahhh!!!

I enjoyed reading the book so much, I finished it in 2 days (to think that it's a 500-paged novel). I couldn't place down the book and I just spent my entire Saturday afternoon reading Twilight. In order for me not to get back pains from my bed, I was able to utilize the house by reading it in places where I barely stay such as the living room (I only get to sit down whenever we have visitors), the tea room (I don't even go there once a month, last time I was there was when I had raclette dinner with my friends, we stayed there and had a good chat) and the lanai (my drinking session area).

The next day, after a long day at Cabanatuan, I had dinner with the family and quickly ran to Fully Booked, Powerplant to check on my reservation of its second installment "New Moon". As I arrived at Fully Booked, to my dismay and disappointment.. out-of-stock!! They also ran out of Twilight and Eclipse. So I just rereserved and I left all my contact numbers (home, office, email, mobile) to notify me about New Moon. Okei addict bahko?? Mejo lang naman...

New Moon, well based on reading reviews, talks less about Edward the vampire and Jake has come in to the picture and has become Bella's best friend. Turns out that Jake's a werewolf. Okay this I gotta read kagad! Hokay now, vampires... werewolves... Happy Halloween for gladzalwayshappy!

Wish me luck, hopefully I get New Moon so that I can start reading the 3rd installment, which is "Eclipse". According to the author, there will be a 4th installment for this, which is entitled "Breaking Dawn."

So friends, if you want a good read on a lazy weekend, grab the Twilight saga!! =)
