The new look

When I watched Domino on Star Movies, I didn't like the story that much. But what I did like was Keira Knightley's hair. It's such a tough chick look. Even if she was smoking like a chimney and shooting at anyone like there's no tomorrow, she was one beautiful bounty hunter.


After watching the movie, I super adored her hair. I wanted to have that kind of hairstyle but I was just afraid. It's too short!

I had my boys-cut-hair back in 1994. After watching the VHS tape of Ghost, I got inspired at Demi Moore's hair, I decided to cut it short. But it was wrong timing because that was our grad-pic-Chat-Peypoch moments. When all of my batchmates had their hair styled at their salons or blowdried or placed nice hairclips onto their bangs, I just scooped some Dep gel and went to Chat Peypoch's studio in Pasay (those days, they weren't in Legaspi street yet). I really wished my hair was long back then. I didn't look like Demi Moore, I looked like a little Maynila boy at my Grade School grad pic.

So from there, I just grew my hair and never cut my hair really short... until yesterday...

After a gruesome hair rebonding from a chaka parlor (it's pretty exhausting to narrate it, in other words IT'S A LONG STORY!), my hair got damaged. The hair-damage-discover was last Feb. 15. On Feb. 18, I had a haircut and a hair treatment. Thanks to Nestor, he did a good job. I totally loved my hair but the damages were still seen. The strands became so brittle and the maintenance was just getting higher and higher (you know leave-on conditioner + major blow-dry + Kerastase NutriDefense = 30 minutes to fix my hair).

Ah dattzzzeettt!!! Gotta remove those friggin damages! Call it right timing or something but right after ranting at my hair, Domino was shown again on Star Movies. Deezeezeettt!! Sign na ito!! Date was Feb. 24...

Feb. 26... I have completely decided to cut my hair short right after placing the number 18 item at my 20 Questions blog entry... Thanks to Dino the stylist, he waited for me. Malamang naawa sa buhok ko... And then... TAAAAAAAAAADDDDDUUUHHHHHHH.....



Lessons learned:
1) Never go to chaka/tabi-tabi parlors for a cheap and quick hair rebonding
2) The hair is girl's crowning glory, spend for it as much as possible and so never go to chaka/tabi-tabi parlors for a cheap and quick hair rebonding
3) Never go to chaka/tabi-tabi parlors for a cheap and quick hair rebonding --> AY NASABI KO NA ATA IYON... REITERATE LANG...

But this has been a blessing in disguise
1) In my life I always wanted the Keira Knightley hairdo (or at least close to it)
2) I wouldn't be able to bond with my stylist
3) I learned so much about hair

In fairness, I like it. It's just a matter of getting-used-to-it. It's been 14 years since I had my hair really short. Now I'm thinking of expediting the growth... I realize I have a number of weddings this year.... Nooneeenooo.............
