Good Lunch and Excellent Homemade Cake

Last Saturday was the birthday celebration of my good friend, Ann... or Rowee or Ann Rose... well whatever works... hahahaha!! At first we wanted to go yoga or badminton, but Rowee decided to eat out instead. So yeah, chow time it was!!

We wanted to eat somewhere quaint yet tasteful and affordable. Hence, we went to Bellini's Marikina Shoe Expo. It was refreshing for me to go to Marikina Shoe Expo, as I find it so bohemian, so vintage Manila. Cubao may be the next Malate, the bohemian place in the Philippines. Anyway going back to Bellini's, I loved the food!! We had bolognese, pizza, steak, lasagna, sherbet and dessert wine. While we were enjoying our meal, it was our time to update what's happening with our lives. Yes, QLC talk was inevitable but in the end, we just laughed our hearts out. I loved Rowee's soliloquy (yeah this vocab I got from Thespian friend... hahahahahaha goin' into that direction... not!) about jerks who run around like headless chickens and may die at the age of 30. Rowee also brought up her ideal honeymoon venue. She said she wants to have it in Australia and Carmela just needed to blurt it out (and spoiled Rowee's romantic mode) and shared that Australia belongs to the top 5 countries that is shark infested... Nice. Hahahahaha!! Oh how I love girl talk.

After lunch and QLC/girl talk, we went back to Makati and picked up Rowee's cake. The day before lunch, Carmela started raving about this homemade cake baked by some Mrs. Yulo. She said Mrs. Yulo has the best strawberry shortcake (and I actually thought of that cartoon character, whom apparently is my favorite!) in town. So fast forward to Satruday afternoon, we picked up the cake and ate it at Manila Polo Club. As soon as Rowee opened the box..... one word.... WOW!!!

Pretty cake (coz it has fresh strawberries on top)! The cake was just mouth-watering!! The icing was ice-cream based and the cake itself, or that chiffon thingee (hey gotta review my cakes), was so soft. Indeed, this became my other definition of heaven.

Rowee couldn't help but grabbed her camera and took pictures of the lovely cake.

Jaf, Ghaf and Belle followed and grabbed a slice of that wonderful heavenly cake.

It was a day of celebrating friendship. It was great. Looking forward to more birthday celebrations. Cheers to you girls!
