Lately, I have been a super sponge to the words that are uttered by my family, friends and even strangers. It makes me think seriously of what I have to do with my life and how to I deal with the occurences each and every day that passes by. In other words, I have been truly digesting these words (no matter how they say it) and would make me reflect and discern so many things. In the end, a smile on my face is marked and I just keep on thinking what will be the next step, so that I become a better individual. Last Thursday, my parents and I talked about the definition of being a "magaling na tao". Then my dad shared a story that he encountered back in 2002. It was a party with the electronics peeps and Jake Pena, former Intel CEO said to him. "Kaya gumagaling ang SEIPI kasi lagi kang hindi mapakali. You always go out of your comfort zone and you think that there are things that can be improved. At the end of the day, you seek for something better." In other words, my dad was telling me this: "Glad, to define as a magaling na tao means you always go out of your comfort zone, so that you'll become a better person. It's alright to be satisfied with what you have right now but these things you have right now aren't there forever. But if you want to sustain the things you have, then embrace the challenges and go beyond your comfort zone." This morning during mass, the words that the priest uttered at his concluding rites struck me big time: "Do not think of your weaknesses as a liability but as a possibility." It made me think so hard while I spent the rest of the day.
I guess these words that I have heard conclude to two things: STRENGTH & WEAKNESSES. We have our strengths but at the same time, we have our weaknesses. We must continue to maximize our strengths. In terms of our weaknesses, they can be transformed into strengths, as long as we face them with full courage and learn in the process on how our weaknesses can become our strengths.
I prayed to God and thanked him that He has given me these words of wisdom through different people. This time, these aren't just words that are uttered but it has served as a challenge for me to apply it in my life. It's tough but I guess faith and will power will be my source of strength to uphold the words that have been shared to me.
Kaya ko toh!
