Flick Pick: The Perks of Being a Wallflower

After raving the book last week and despite the inadvertent flake out of friends (due to unforeseen work circumstances) and the "scalper" ticket fiasco, I finally watched the movie. Yipee! Rating it from 1 to 10, I say 10.5. Indeed a super major outstanding rating from yours truly. It is true that not all parts in the book were captured in the movie but it did give justice as we watched the reel. Well, the author and director is Steven Chbosky, so I guess he packaged the movie uniquely but it will still be right on how it was written in the book. In other words, sakto lang siya.
It was also a well-casted movie. Logan Lerman has so much potential, in terms of being the next matinee idol. Emma Watson truly out grow the Hermoine character and she was very classy in her role. Not teeny bopper-ish. I never thought she can pull off an American accent. Ezra Miller is my new crush. He can really act. He can carry the flamboyant gay teenager, which made me think if he's straight or gay in real life.

My favorite part? The dance portion of Patrick and Sam, in the tune of "Come On Eileen" by Dexy Midnight Runners. It's such a cute part because the dance steps were not cheesy or corny. It brought a happy vibe. My friend and I were singing loudly at the movie house.

Of course, "Heroes" by David Bowie was the song of the moment in the movie. I didn't know he was the original artist because I only knew the version by The Wallflowers. It blew my mind when I heard it.

When my friend asked me to describe it, the first thing that I said was "a hipster-in-the-making-at-the-90's era" flick: Sub-cultural fashion, vinyl (when mixed tapes and the uprising of CDs were prevalent back then), food preference and circle of friends.

I will download the soundtrack and I will buy the DVD, once it'll be released like a few months from now.
