12 for 2012

Ready... Get set... Fight! A challenge for me to read at least one book per month. I have this annoying habit of buying good (sometimes cheap but nice) books but ended up as dust collector. Upon fixing my shelves I realized that I had to do some catching up on my reading. Therefore, I should be productive in a literary way.

Here are the list of books I need to read and appreciate, in the next 11 months to come (arranged from top to bottom):
  1. Wicked by Gregory Maguire - Yey done! Want to watch the musical though. Please perform here in Manila, so that there's no need to go to Singapore...
  2. Persuasion by Jane Austen - She had a foresight on chic-lit. It's all about finding THE ONE. The book was highlighted in The Lake House.
  3. Animal Farm by George Orwell - Ah such classic! An interesting way of narrating socio-political issues, using animals. It's like fable for adults.
  4. Susie, Sadly, and The Black Torpedo of Doom by John S. Littel - Based from the synopsis, setting was in the 50's. Got it at Php50.00 though so yeah, not bad!
  5. The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery - I read this during my freshman year in HS... and I totally forgot the story. All I could remember was the "Boa Constrictor".
  6. Here Kitty Kitty by Jardine Libaire - Got it on sale though. I think it was around Php20.00. It's all about a group of hipsters.
  7. Thirst No. 1 by Christopher Pike
  8. Thirst No. 2 by Christopher Pike - Indeed he has joined the vamp lit bandwagon!
  9. You are so not invited to my Bat Mitzvah! by Fiona Rosenbloom - Got this at Php 90.00 from Php 500. I think it's a juvee book. But it seems that it'll be a good read.
  10. Before Ever After by Samantha Sotto - First Filipina writer whose book was published by Random House. From its reviews, it's a charming chic lit.
  11. The Comeback by Gary Shapiro - I met the author 5 years ago in Tel Aviv, Israel. He heads the semiconductor and electronics association in the US and he wrote a book about America's comeback to the world economy. My good friend Jennifer told me that it was an insightful piece. Can't wait!
  12. Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacs - Need to explain further?
So here goes my literature line-up for 2012. This will be an exciting year for reading. :-)
